AlixPartners adds senior experts to Dusseldorf and Zurich offices
International consulting firm AlixPartners has added senior experts to its offices in Dusseldorf and Zurich. Peter Heckmann has been appointed a Managing Director in Germany, while Cornelia Brühwiler has joined the Swiss arm in the role of Director.
Peter Heckmann brings more than 25 years of consulting experience to the firm, of which the majority was gained in the strategy and operations space with a focus on the retail and consumer goods industries. He joins AlixPartners from Strategy&, the strategy consulting division of PwC, where Heckmann was a partner and leader of the firm’s ‘Fit for Growth’ platform in EMEA. Prior to that he spent fourteen years with Booz Allen Hamilton, where he rose through the ranks from analyst to partner, transitioning to Booz & Company – which rebranded as Strategy& – after Booz Allen Hamilton split into a public sector firm in North America and a private sector consultancy outside the US and Canada.
The newly appointed Managing Director joins the Performance Improvement practice of AlixPartners Germany, and is based in the firm’s Dusseldorf office. The consultancy, founded in 1981, also has a second German office in Munich.
“Peter brings a broad range of skills and experience to our growing retail and consumer goods team. His insight and expertise will be of great value to our clients as they seek to find a competitive edge in this volatile and dynamic sector,” said Simon Freakley, Chief Executive Officer at AlixPartners.
Peter Heckmann holds a diploma in engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
Meanwhile, AlixPartners’ Swiss office, located in financial services hub Zurich, added consumer goods and retail expert Cornelia Brühwiler to its senior ranks. Appointed a Director, she has over 20 years of experience in the field, gaining experience in among other areas strategy development, process optimisation, efficiency improvement, marketing, and sales promotion.
The 45-year-old joins the global consulting firm – private equity backed AlixPartners has 25 offices across the globe – from Migros Group, Switzerland's largest retail company and supermarket chain. Most recently, since 2013, she served as Head of a Sales for a large region, and in the role drove sales growth and implemented efficiency and sales projects. Previously, Brühwiler was responsible for Strategic Development Marketing at the Migros Cooperative Alliance in Zurich for four years. In this capacity, she developed, among other things, the national trading strategy for the super and specialty markets and led several major marketing projects.
Prior to that, she worked for four years at Roland Berger, where she advised the management of companies in the retail, consumer goods and media sectors in Switzerland, Germany and Eastern Europe on strategic and organisational issues. Brühwiler started her career at Kraft Foods in Switzerland, after completing her studies in Business Administration at the University of St. Gallen.
