Tech Mahindra expands into Baltics with new office in Riga
Global IT services company Tech Mahindra has opened a new office in Latvia, its first in the Baltic states.
The new office in Riga will operate as a Business Processing Services hub for Tech Mahindra’s clients in the Baltics (Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania) and serve clients across Europe. The office is the firm’s 47th in Europe and becomes part of a network of over 55 business process delivery centers in 15 countries.
“Tech Mahindra's expansion into the Baltic States is a pivotal stride in our growth strategy. It also highlights our commitment to regional growth and technological advancements in Europe,” said Birendra Sen, Business Head of Business Process Services at Tech Mahindra.
Commenting on why the India-headquartered group picked Riga as its base in the region, Sen said, “Latvia’s thriving technology ecosystem, skilled workforce, robust IT infrastructure, and favourable government policies make it an ideal hub for accessing European markets.”
The Riga team will focus on traditional business process outsourcing services, but also serve as an expert hub for innovative technology solutions on topics such as 5G, metaverse, blockchain, quantum computing, and artificial intelligence. The goal is to grow the local team to around 500 staff.
The new office is located in Jaunā Teika, a business hub that is known for its sustainability efforts. The complex houses the largest electric car charging station in the Baltics, with Tech Mahindra’s building holding BREEAM certified status.
Commenting on the news, Vilnis Ķirsis, the Mayor of Riga, said, “The opening of Tech Mahindra’s new office in Riga once again confirms the city’s development and growing competitiveness. Riga is becoming increasingly attractive to global business service centres. The presence of these centres promotes both growth and innovation in research and smart technology. We welcome Tech Mahindra to Latvia!”
