OC&C Strategy Consultants welcomes 35-person team in Germany
OC&C Strategy Consultants has welcomed back a large group of German partners and consultants from EY-Parthenon.
The long-running saga of team hires between OC&C Strategy Consultants and EY-Parthenon has added a next chapter, with a group of seven German partners and around 30 team members now re-joining OC&C Strategy Consultants having spent close to seven years in the strategy-focused arm of EY.
For those that missed out on the previous episodes – in the period between 2016 and 2018, EY-Parthenon acquired the Benelux, French and German practices of OC&C Strategy Consultants. The move dealt a blow to OC&C Strategy Consultants, but the firm gradually rebuilt its teams in the three countries, while ensuring that its new offices were fully part of the firm’s more robust integrated model.
From 2021 onwards, news surfaced that many former OC&C partners were keen on returning to the strategy boutique. In the Netherlands, this saw a team of five partners and 40 consultants return to OC&C Strategy Consultants in 2021, and in France, similar moves were seen yet on a much smaller scale.
Now, a similar feat has taken place in Germany, where a group of seven partners – Andreas Enders, Andreas Teller, Chehab Wahby, Hendrik Walter, Jörg Schäfer, Ludwig Voll and Rolf Pensky – have returned to their roots at OC&C Strategy Consultants. Crossing with them are over 30 consultants and staff members.
“It’s a homecoming,” said Schäfer. “This move marks my return to my first love. When I joined OC&C Strategy Consultants in 2008, I became part of an incredible firm and built many lasting friendships.”
Unpacking on why he (and other partners) were incited to move back, Schäfer said: “Seeing what OC&C has become today is truly inspiring, having gone through an impressive evolution, with its global profit & loss and entrepreneurial governance system that empowers partners to shape the firm.”
Fellow partner Walter added: “It has been great to see how OC&C has developed in recent years based on its truly unique positioning of focusing on the most strategic issues and providing the best home for strategy talent.”
Indeed, OC&C Strategy Consultants has over the past years booked strong growth, today comprising over 700 consultants in 10 countries (helped by acquisitions in Italy and Australia). In doing so, the firm has remained faithful to its pure-play focus on strategic services, at a time when many of its peers branched out into other areas.
Meanwhile, OC&C Strategy Consultants also managed to attain B Corp status, cementing its determination to building a better world, and bag a number of highly coveted industry awards.
The new partners join the existing team in Germany, which is led by leaders Jan Bergmann, Christoph Treiber, and Lars Luck, lifting the firm’s headcount in Germany to circa 70 people across offices in Munich and Dusseldorf.
Commenting on the news, Will Hayllar, Global Managing Partner of OC&C Strategy Consultants said: “We are incredibly excited to announce the expansion of our German team. We are thrilled to welcome back many accomplished partners, previously with OC&C, who share our heritage and will be instrumental in driving further growth in the DACH region and beyond.”
“Their return underscores our belief that OC&C truly is the best home for the best strategy talent. Over the years we have invested significantly in building a world-class consultancy and people proposition, and this expansion is a testament to our ongoing success.”
