Sir Philip Lowe joins economics consultancy Oxera in Brussels
Sir Philip Lowe, a highly respected expert in European policy and regulation, has joined Oxera in Brussels. Appointed a Senior Adviser, Lowe will cover Oxera’s work across Europe.
The senior expert brings with him a distinguished career in government and business. Most recently, he was a Senior Adviser in the Public Affairs practice of FTI Consulting, which is a service line within the firm's Strategic Communications segment. Based out of FTI’s offices in London and Brussels, Lowe advised the firm’s clients on strategic issues such as cross-border M&A, complex investigations and global policy.
Prior to that, he held range of senior positions at the European Commission, which he joined in 1973, following a period in the manufacturing industry in the UK. At the Commission, Lowe was Chef de Cabinet and Director in the fields of regional development, agriculture, transport and administration, before becoming Director-General of Development in 1997. From September 2002 to February 2010, he was Director-General for Competition and after that, until the end of 2013, Director-General for Energy.Lowe also brings non-executive board experience with him to Oxera. Since 2010 he has been Chair of the Florence University Institute Competition Law Workshop and since 2016 Executive Chair of the World Energy Council’s Energy Trilemma Flagship Study Programme. One major role he recently stepped down from is that of non-executive Board Member of the UK's Competition and Markets Authority, which he held from 2013 until the beginning of this year.

Philip Lowe was born in Leeds in 1947. He holds a Master in Science from London Business School.
