Royal HaskoningDHV buys renewable energy specialist Pondera Consult

Pondera Consult, a renewable energy consulting firm with five offices in Europe and Asia, has been acquired by Royal HaskoningDHV.

Founded in 2007 in the Netherlands, Pondera Consult provides consultancy services around the development of renewable energy projects, with a focus on onshore / offshore wind. Since its inception, the consulting firm has grown to 90 employees across offices in the Netherlands, Finland, Indonesia, Vietnam, and South Korea.

Marije Hulshof, the CEO of Royal HaskoningDHV, said that the acquisition of Pondera Consult will strengthen the firm’s advisory portfolio in the energy sector. “We are committed to supporting our clients around the world embrace the energy transition. The energy transition is also one of the drivers of our international growth, so we are very excited to have the Pondera Consult team on board.”

Pondera Consult’s wind energy expertise will complement Royal HaskoningDHV’s broader renewable energy offering, which also spans areas such as solar energy, hydrogen production, energy storage, hydropower, geothermal, and more.

“Pondera Consult’s specialist knowledge in the early project phases accelerates and strengthens our offer, especially in Europe and Asia, where we anticipate that significant investments will be made in renewable energy in the coming years. Together, we can expand these services throughout the entire lifecycle of energy projects,” said Hulshof.

Martijn ten Klooster, director of Pondera Consult, said the joining of forces with the global engineering group will enable the company to grow its impact and broaden its line of services for clients. “We can build on their broad expertise and a strong international network. We share the same ambition and vision and look forward to pursuing this together.”

Pondera Development, a sister company of Pondera Consult, is not part of this transaction. Financial terms of the deal have not been disclosed.
