Belgian consultancy firm Consultes has been acquired by Tauw, an engineering group with offices across Europe.

Founded in 2007, Consultes is a consulting firm specialising in environmental and safety compliance, offering expertise in areas such as wastewater, hazardous materials, CO2 emissions, energy, air quality, and machine safety. The company works across sectors, including waste management, chemicals, construction, and energy, and has a team of around 35 staff.

Pascal Herman, the CEO of Consultes, said that the joining of forces with Tauw is driven by the ambition to improve its services to clients. “Tauw offers us the opportunity to scale our operations and leverage their extensive network, resulting in greater value for clients and a stronger focus on sustainable development and operational excellence.”

Headquartered in the Netherlands, Tauw is an engineering and consultancy firm for the built environment, with a strong position in the environmental landscape. The company has more than 1,200 employees in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, France, Spain and Italy.

“Both Tauw and Consultes have a strong focus on expertise, and joining forces aligns with the increasing need of our clients to be able to rely on one expert partner for environmental and sustainability advice. Another important reason for the deal is that our cultures are closely aligned. We share a common vision on values, customer support and a people-oriented approach to our employees,” said Bert Leysen, General Manager of Tauw in Belgium.

In Belgium, Tauw has offices in Leuven, Lokeren, Brussel, Gembloux and Roeselare. Consultes meanwhile has a focus on the Flanders region, with hubs in Kortrijk, Gent and Antwerpen.

Earlier this week, Tauw also acquired the German project management business Planwerk, which has around 50 staff dedicated to the industrial and utilities sectors.
