Thomas Cobet joins Alvarez & Marsal as managing director
Alvarez & Marsal has welcomed Thomas Cobet to its leadership team in Germany.
Appointed a Managing Director in the Hamburg office, Thomas Cobet has over 20 years of professional experience in consulting and industry.
Prior to joining Alvarez & Marsal, he spent four years at AlixPartners, serving as a partner and member of its German management team. Earlier in his career, he also worked for Roland Berger.
During his time in management consulting, Cobet led various global transformation projects, and worked as a Chief Financial Officer for international companies on an interim basis.
Notable consulting assignments include leading the project management office and finance workstream in a €25 billion German DAX company, which faced a severe crisis in one of its business lines due to quality issues. Cobet also served as interim CFO for a private equity-owned €1 billion spin-off of a Japanese industrial equipment manufacturer, where he enhanced the finance function to cope with the requirements of the new operating model.
In between his consulting spells, Cobet spent more than a dozen years at Siemens, including as CFO of the company’s Onshore business for the North Europe & Middle East region, and Head of Business Controlling for the Wind Power & Renewables division. During the billion-dollar integration between Siemens Wind Power and Gamesa, Cobet played a key role in the leadership of the finance workstream.
Commenting on his new role, Cobet said: “I am delighted to bring my experience as CFO in the energy sector to Alvarez & Marsal and to work with our customers to overcome the challenges of the energy transition.”
Thomas Cobet earned an MBA, a master’s degree in philosophy and a PhD in philosophy from the University of Würzburg.
