AlixPartners appoints top German leaders Andreas Rüter and Veit Buetterlin-Goldberg

After ten years at the helm of the German business of AlixPartners, Andreas Rüter is moving on to the position of Vice Chair and passing on his responsibilities to Veit Buetterlin-Goldberg.
Under the leadership of Andreas Rüter, AlixPartners has seen tremendous growth, more than quadrupling its fee income in the country in the space of 10 years.
“Ten years ago, I stepped into the role of Germany’s Country Leader at AlixPartners, and what a decade it has been – intense, with ups and downs, immensely rewarding, and quite successful,” reflected Rüter in a personal post on LinkedIn, in which he took the time to thank his German colleagues, AlixPartners’ international leadership team, as well as his wife and daughters for their “unwavering support and endless patience.”
In Germany, AlixPartners now has close to 400 staff working from offices in Düsseldorf, Frankfurt, Munich and Zurich.
“I am very pleased to hand over the baton to Veit. We have worked closely together for years and I really appreciate his collaborative, people-oriented approach. With him and the excellent team, AlixPartners will continue to grow strongly.”
Buetterlin-Goldberg has been with AlixPartners since 2015. A Partner & Managing Director in the Investigations, Disputes & Advisory practice, he advises companies on managing regulatory, financial and reputational risks. His most notable engagements relate to anti-money laundering, sanctions, tax, corruption, asset tracing, financial statement fraud, Dieselgate, and bankruptcy cases.
He also has experience in forensics, acting as an expert witness in court and arbitration proceedings. Buetterlin-Goldberg has supported clients on-site in more than 20 countries and led assessments in the context of examinations commissioned by the European Central Bank, the German Federal Bank, the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority, and other European regulators.
He had numerous key roles related to US monitorships commissioned by the Department of Justice, the US Securities and Exchange Commission, and American bank regulators.
In 2024, Buetterlin-Goldberg was named a ‘Global Elite Thought Leader’ in Lexology’s Consulting Experts guide.
The appointment of Buetterlin-Goldberg also sees him become co-leader of the DACH practice, alongside Beatrix Morath, the head of the firm’s Swiss office.
Rüter meanwhile will transition to the role of Vice Chair of the DACH region. In this role, he will focus on strategic growth topics, potential acquisitions (last year AlixPartners acquired Berylls), senior hiring recruiting, and CxO-level client engagement.
