PaymentGenes has expanded its team with Valentina Fratino, who arrives with a six-year background at Big Four firms.

In her new role, Valentina Fratino will become a member of the Strategy practice of PaymentGenes, which advises clients in the payments ecosystem on strategic topics such as market analysis, market entry, go-to-market strategies, and the design of roadmaps for growth, partnerships and innovation.

Fratino’s passion for the payments industry was ignited during her internship at Mastercard in Belgium, where she first explored the world of payments. This experience inspired her to embark on a consulting career. At Deloitte, she worked as a consultant for clients in the financial services industry, including banks, neobanks, and crypto exchanges.

After four years in Luxembourg, Fratino relocated to the Netherlands and joined the Strategy practice of KPMG. During her three years at the Big Four firm, she supported major banks on a range of initiatives, from developing multi-year strategic plans to establishing and delivering sustainability initiatives.

“After six years of creating slides at two Big Four companies, it is time to continue doing so at PaymentGenes”, Fratino said. “It’s been an incredible ride where I have worked with inspiring mentors, sharpened my consulting skills and even made real friends. Now, I am looking forward to applying that experience in my exciting new role at PaymentGenes.”

Ward Hagenaar, partner at PaymentGenes, noted: “We are pleased to welcome Valentina to our team, further enhancing our blend of cutting-edge consultants, industry expertise, and an extensive network.”

Having formally joined on the 1st of January, 2025, Fratino has already commenced work on a payments project with a leading global car rental company.
