EY-Parthenon welcomes Bayer executive and ex-BCG partner Thomas Barzan

Thomas Barzan, an executive at pharmaceutical and biotech company Bayer, has made his return to the world of strategy consulting.

Appointed at the start of this month, Thomas Barzan is now a partner at EY-Parthenon, the strategy consulting arm of EY. He joins from Bayer, where he served as the Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer for its Consumer Health business.

Commenting on his move, Barzan said: “EY-Parthenon offers an extensive and highly differentiated range of services in strategy and transactions, which enables us to help clients to shape winning strategies and build capabilities that strengthen competitive advantages and deliver tangible results. Prior to his time in industry, Barzan was a partner at Boston Consulting Group based in Switzerland. A member of the Consumer Goods and Health Care practice, he advised clients on topic such as strategic transformations, mergers & acquisitions, portfolio management, performance improvement, with a particular focus on value creation operations and supply chain.

Barzan started his career at fast moving consumer goods giant Procter & Gamble, where he held several roles in sales and operations management.

The appointment comes hot on the heels of a massive expansion for EY-Parthenon. Last month, the firm integrated the former Strategy & Transactions arm of EY into its business, in a move that nearly tripled its headcount to 25,000 staff worldwide.
