Teneo launches its Financial Advisory business in Spain

Global consulting firm Teneo has expanded the footprint of its Financial Advisory business into Spain, bringing in two former Big Four leaders to lead its new practice in Madrid.
The Financial Advisory business of Teneo specialises in a number of areas, including mergers & acquisitions, financial transactions, and restructuring. The practice has a presence in most of Teneo’s 40 offices worldwide, with Spain-based clients now also able to access the offering.
“We’re delighted to opening for business in Spain; it’s a very exciting milestone,” said Daniel Butters, CEO of Teneo’s Financial Advisory business. “This expansion strategically aligns with the successful launch of our Financial Advisory business in Latin America last year, and will enable seamless client delivery across both jurisdictions.”
Leading the new Madrid office is Javier Ibáñez, a restructuring professional with over 25 years of experience. He has been appointed a Senior Managing Director, and previously spent most of his career at KPMG, including 10 years as a restructuring partner. More recently, he led Kroll’s Restructuring practice in Spain.
“There is a huge opportunity for Teneo in Spain,” Ibáñez noted. “The firm’s integrated consulting and advisory model is a truly unique offering for clients in the Spanish market. We plan to quickly build out services ranging from crisis and insolvency situations to fundraising and supporting growth opportunities. We have ambitious plans to grow Teneo’s operations in Spain, including a number of additional hires planned over the coming weeks and months.”
Francisco Alba meanwhile has been appointed as Managing Director. He is also a highly experienced restructuring practitioner, having spent over 15 years at KMPG and Kroll. Additionally, he served as a Director at Borealis.
“I warmly welcome Javier and Francisco to the team, both of whom bring significant restructuring experience and market connectivity,” said Butters.
