Informative dashboards can provide key insights, helping companies enhance decision-making and add business value. We spoke to Antonie van Velzen and Iga Jarosz from Digital Power about their dashboard solutions and how these tools can help companies bring order to the chaos of raw data in order to operate smarter, quicker and more effectively.

Dashboarding is essentially all about transforming raw, scattered data into clear, actionable visual insights. This can be really helpful for companies because it provides a central, interactive display that consolidates key information from various sources, making it easily understandable at a glance.

One of the main benefits to having easy-to-understand, visual data at your fingertips is that it can really help with decision making. Companies are able to make faster and better-informed decisions with solid data – but the reality for many companies is that their data is unorganized.

“Our dashboarding solution is designed to be domain-agnostic, serving clients across sectors such as government, agriculture, energy, sustainability, and beyond,” says Iga Jarosz, analytics engineer at Digital Power.

“Any organization that values data-informed decision making – whether it’s a start-up or a growing mid-sized business, aiming to become more data mature and up their competitive advantage or a large enterprise – can benefit from our approach.”

From raw data to actionable insights

The first step in building a dashboard is analyzing the specific needs, business objectives, and data context of the company in order to get the strategic priorities right. The process of building a dashboard is iterative, meaning that client feedback is taken into account during the process and changes are made to optimize usability and relevance.

“Once delivered, we provide training and guidance to drive adoption, embed dashboard usage into decision-making processes, and establish practices for continuous optimization,” notes Antonie van Velzen, data analyst and consultant at Digital Power.

“Ultimately, clients gain a unified and reliable data view, better KPI tracking, and ultimately deeper insight into trends. This helps leaders make better informed decisions.”

Success stories of clients

In essence, a well-designed dashboard empowers a company by transforming its vast amounts of data into a strategic asset. It provides the clarity, efficiency, and real-time insights necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern business environment and make informed decisions that drive growth and success.

“A strong real-life example is our work with Valk Digital, where we built a Power BI dashboard consolidating marketing performance data. This replaced manual Excel reporting, enabling real-time insights and more strategic marketing decision-making,” says Jarosz. “Similarly, during the Covid-19 crisis, we supported the Dutch government with dashboards that visualized complex health and Covid-19 testing data.”

Notably, Digital Power during this period also served the highest echelons of the government, including the minister, on ensuring that they always had up-to-date data that could be interpreted with the blink of the eye.

Dashboards don’t change organizations, people do

Data products like dashboards can be a part of transforming an organization, but in the end, the real transformation comes from the people that use it.

Successful adoption of a dashboard tool is typically driven by first laying a solid foundation, addressing data quality issues as they come up, and gathering as much feedback as possible as the tool gets used.

“During post-delivery, we focus heavily on adoption and impact. We train end-users, advise them on embedding dashboard use into daily workflows, and support long-term optimization,” says Van Velzen.

“At Digital Power, ‘Data to Action’ is a core value. By making user enablement and process integration a central part of our approach, we ensure dashboards lead to meaningful, sustained change – not just insights left unused.”
