Interpath launches its Restructuring practice in the German market
International financial advisory firm Interpath has expanded its footprint in the German market with the launch of its Restructuring practice. A senior team has been assembled to lead the firm’s latest growth initiative.
Interpath first entered the German and wider DACH market in early 2025 through the acquisition of Kerkhoff, a company specialising in procurement and supply chain management. The acquisition added around 60 professionals across offices in Düsseldorf and Vienna. Since then, Interpath’s DACH operations have expanded organically, with new offices opened in Munich, Frankfurt, and Berlin.
The launch of the Restructuring practice marks the next step in the firm’s growth plan, introducing one of its core service offerings to the German market. Restructuring lies at the heart of Interpath’s heritage – the firm was established in 2021 following the carve-out of KPMG’s UK Restructuring business. Since then, Interpath has diversified into other financial advisory areas, including mergers & acquisitions, debt advisory, forensics, and other advisory capabilities.
“Interpath has a long and proud heritage in the field of restructuring, stretching back more than 50 years. Given that Germany is rightly regarded as one of the world’s leading centres for restructuring, it was always a priority for us to build a market-leading team here,” said Neil Siri, Head of Interpath in the DACH region.
Nils Kuhlwein and Ralph Kudla
Leading the new Restructuring practice is Nils Kuhlwein, described by the firm as “one of Germany’s foremost turnaround professionals.” Kuhlwein joins Interpath from Kearney, where he was a Partner responsible for its Transformation Services division. He previously served as a Partner in McKinsey & Company’s Restructuring & Transformation Services practice and held roles at Roland Berger and KPMG.
A founding and board member of the Turnaround Management Association (TMA) in Germany, Kuhlwein brings extensive experience from some of Europe’s most complex and high-profile restructuring projects. “Nils has worked on some of the most significant restructuring cases in Europe. We are confident he will drive our offering forward,” noted Siri.
Commenting on his new role, Kuhlwein said: “Restructuring is part of Interpath’s DNA, so I’m particularly excited to join this team and help build our presence across the DACH region. I look forward to applying my 30 years of experience to support our goal of creating holistic value for clients.”
“Although Interpath is still a relatively young brand in Germany, it already boasts an exceptional track record across Europe, driven by experienced professionals working on some of the market’s largest mandates.”
Supporting Kuhlwein in the new practice is Ralph Kudla, a Managing Director who joined Interpath through the Kerkhoff acquisition.
A global growth ambition
Globally, Interpath has set out an ambition to establish itself as one of the world’s leading financial advisory firms by 2030. This growth strategy has driven the launch of new offices across Europe and an expansion into Asia-Pacific, among other regions. The firm now employs over 1,000 people across 30 locations worldwide.
