Stellantis selects Accenture for AI and digital twin manufacturing transformation

Stellantis, a European car manufacturer with revenues of €153 billion, has launched a new project introducing AI-enabled digital twin capabilities across its global manufacturing footprint. The project is supported by Accenture.

“We are laying the foundation for the next generation of manufacturing at Stellantis,” said Francesco Ciancia, Head of Manufacturing at Stellantis. “By combining digital twins, AI, and advanced simulation, we are rethinking how we design, operate, and continuously improve our production systems.”

This initiative is part of Stellantis’ ambition to build more efficient and adaptive production systems, leveraging digital twins as a core enabler of transformation. It supports two of the six strategic pillars of FaSTLAne, its strategy through to 2030, which includes €60 billion in investment aimed at accelerating growth and profitability.

Digital twins are digital replicas of physical environments. They allow manufacturers to visualise operations, simulate scenarios, and make more informed decisions. Working with Accenture and NVIDIA, Stellantis will develop high-fidelity virtual plant replicas to optimise operations in real time, validate processes before physical deployment, enhance quality through predictive monitoring, and reduce risk across manufacturing operations.

Initial deployments are planned at selected plants in North America. If the pilots prove successful, Stellantis plans to expand the digital twin programme across its global manufacturing network.

Stellantis is best known for its iconic brands such as Alfa Romeo, Citroën, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, Opel, and Peugeot.

Tracey Countryman, Supply Chain and Engineering Global Lead at Accenture, said the consulting firm is delighted to have been selected as consulting partner for this strategic engagement. “The opportunity in manufacturing today is to scale AI across complex industrial operations in ways that deliver measurable business value.”

“By partnering with Accenture and NVIDIA, Stellantis is positioned to accelerate manufacturing reinvention and lead the industry into a new era of intelligent, high-performance operations.”
