Hammer broadens offering with new propositions and AI-powered solutions

Hammer is evolving from a boutique market research firm into a broader partner for market intelligence and strategic commercial challenges.

Founded in 2015 and based in the Netherlands, Hammer helps organisations and investors understand the dynamics shaping their markets. The firm provides market intelligence on customers, competitors, products and emerging trends, with a focus on B2B markets across sectors including agriculture, food, materials, chemicals, energy and financial services.

In recent years, Hammer has broadened its offering to support clients across a wider range of strategic and commercial challenges – from market expansion and profitability to positioning and product development.

“We have expanded our offering across several areas in recent years,” said Egbert Philips, director and co-founder of Hammer. “We remain a boutique market research firm specialising in B2B research, but have broadened our portfolio so that we can support clients across the strategic and commercial decisions that matter most.”

The consulting firm supports organisations entering new markets, improving pricing strategies and profitability, and sharpening their market and product positioning. It also helps clients understand customer needs, for example when developing or launching new products and services.

Hammer is also active in mergers & acquisitions, conducting commercial due diligence to provide prospective buyers with an independent assessment of the commercial opportunities and risks associated with a potential transaction.

From one-off research to continuous market intelligence

Hammer is also positioning itself increasingly as a long-term partner through the use of AI-powered tools. While market research is often commissioned around a specific question or decision, the firm’s Market Monitor provides a continuous stream of market intelligence.

The Market Monitor tracks developments in areas including competitive positioning, brands, products, services and customer perceptions. These insights are translated into strategic updates and practical recommendations, allowing commercial teams to make use of market intelligence on an ongoing basis rather than at a single point in time.

Another example is Brand Tracking, a tool that provides continuous insight into the position and development of brands in the market.

“Market intelligence is essential for making well-founded decisions, reducing risks and staying ahead of competitors,” said Philips. “At the same time, many organisations do not have the capacity to continuously monitor and interpret market developments. With our Market Monitor and Brand Tracking solutions, we provide an ongoing flow of market intelligence and translate it into strategic insights and concrete actions.”

New website reflects broader offering

The expansion of its services also prompted Hammer to refresh its online presence, with the firm launching a new website earlier this month.

The website brings Hammer’s various propositions together while providing an overview of its case studies and team. “We have given careful thought internally to how we want to present Hammer to the outside world,” said Philips. “We are very pleased with the result.”
