Orim Energy strengthens financing structure with support from Orchard Finance
Orim Energy has further expanded its financing structure to support the continued growth of the organisation. With support from Orchard Finance, an international financing structure was established involving four international banks, increasing the total facilities to $400 million.
Orim Energy is active in the international trading of specialised oil products and operates from several international locations, including Malta, Gibraltar, the Netherlands, Belgium and Switzerland.
As the organisation continued to grow, the need arose for a financing structure that better matched the scale and dynamics of its international activities.
Since 2021, Orim Energy has worked with Orchard Finance on its financing needs. In 2025, the company once again turned to the consulting firm for its latest financing challenge.
From financing requirements to an international banking structure
Orchard Finance supported the process from the initial assessment through to the final implementation of the financing. The financing requirements were first mapped out using a financial model. A Request for Proposal was then prepared and submitted to potential financiers, after which Orchard Finance supported Orim Energy in assessing term sheets and reviewing the subsequent credit documentation.
A distinctive aspect of this transaction was the final financing structure. Whereas international financings are often arranged through a club deal, in this case a bilateral structure was chosen involving four separate international banks. This meant that individual credit documentation had to be prepared for each bank, making the process more complex and requiring intensive coordination between all parties involved.
Focus on process management and senior involvement
Throughout the process, Orchard Finance played an active role in maintaining momentum and coordinating the various stakeholders, including banks and legal advisers. Orchard Finance also supported Orim Energy with elements of the financing documentation that fell outside the organisation’s day-to-day areas of expertise.
Edwin Coppens, co-founder and director of Orim Energy, commented: “The growth of Orim Energy and the volatility in the markets in which we operate made it necessary to review our financing arrangements.”
“Orchard Finance supported us very effectively throughout this process. Their strong financial expertise, commitment and pragmatic approach to process management were a valuable addition to our own team and made a significant contribution to the successful implementation of the financing structure.”
A future-proof financing foundation
The process resulted in an increase in the financing facilities to a total of $400 million, divided across four international banks. This provides Orim Energy with a financing foundation that is better aligned with the international scale of its operations and the company’s continued development.
