Alvarez & Marsal welcomes former Celerant Consulting chief to Brussels office

Global consulting firm Alvarez & Marsal has appointed Danny Van D’huynslager as a Managing Director in its Private Equity Performance Improvement practice.

Based in the Brussels office, Van D’huynslager works with the firm’s private equity clients across the Benelux and Europe on value creation and performance improvement.

He supports private equity firms and portfolio companies with navigating through significant periods of change, from reshaping operating models and improving commercial performance to integrating acquisitions and reorganisations. His work also extends into data-driven performance management, digital adoption and AI-enabled transformation.

Van D’huynslager brings extensive experience across both consulting and C-suite industry roles, having served as Chief Strategy & Transformation Officer, Chief Operating Officer and Chief Executive Officer. Most recently, at Beaulieu International Group, he led the reset and delivery of the “One B.I.G.” enterprise transformation across 20 divisions, strengthening governance and execution discipline and delivering significant value above target ahead of schedule.

Earlier in his career, he spent sixteen years at Celerant Consulting (now Hitachi Consulting), where he held several leadership roles, including serving as CEO of its European business.

“I’m delighted to be joining Alvarez & Marsal and a team with such a strong reputation,” said Van D’huynslager. “Having worked both inside businesses and as an adviser, I know that ambitious plans only create value when they are translated into action and sustained throughout an organisation. Alvarez & Marsal’s hands-on approach was a major attraction for me, and I’m looking forward to working with colleagues and clients across Europe.”

Raymond Timmer, Managing Director in the Private Equity Performance Improvement practice, said: “Private equity firms are increasingly focused on what happens after the deal is done and how quickly management teams can turn an investment thesis into results. That requires leaders who understand both the strategic ambition and the realities of delivering change. Danny has done that from the C-suite as well as in an advisory capacity, which will be a real asset to our clients.”

“Danny is an excellent addition to our growing European team, and his appointment reflects our continued investment in attracting senior people who have led businesses and delivered change first-hand,” added Bob Rajan, Managing Director in the Private Equity Performance Improvement practice.
