Oliver Wyman appoints leaders in Berlin and Zurich offices
Global management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has made two senior appointments in its DACH (Germany, Austria and Switerland) organisation. Claus Herbolzheimer has been named Head of the firm’s Digital, Technology & Analytics practice for Germany & Austria, while Zurich-based Oliver Wünsch has joined the advisory firm as a Strategic Advisor in its Public Policy business.
Oliver Wünsch brings a wealth of financial services and academic experience to the consulting firm. Prior to joining Oliver Wyman, Wünsch worked in Washington for the International Monetary Fund (IMF), where from 2012 he headed IMF's turnaround teams for the international support programmes in Greece and Cyprus.
In parallel, the 42-year-old Swiss held leadership roles within the International Financial Stability Board (FSB) and the Bank for International Settlements (BIS). Prior to that, he worked for the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA), where he headed the institution’s strategy department during the financial crisis years.
At Oliver Wyman, Wünsch will support the firm’s teams on topics such as sovereign finance (including fiscal, debt and monetary policy), the restructuring and governance of banks and public institutions, fiscal policy and debt management, and strategic development of public and private financial institutions. He will work for players in Switzerland, but also provide his expertise to engagements at a European and global level.
“With Oliver Wünsch, we are pleased to have gained a long-time expert, further strengthening our positioning as a top strategy consultancy,” commented Joris D'Incà, CEO of Oliver Wyman in Switzerland.
Meanwhile in Germany, Oliver Wyman’s largest market outside of the UK (globally the consultancy has around 5,000 consultants and staff across 50+ offices), Claus Herbolzheimer has been promoted to practice lead of the firm’s Digital, Technology & Analytics wing. Herbolzheimer has been with the firm for nine years now, after previously serving rivals Roland Berger and Berlin-based Dornier Consulting.
The new practice leader has more than 15 years of experience in management and digital consulting, especially in the financial services, telecommunication, transportation and energy industries. He specialises in strategy development, strategic controlling and reengineering / efficiency improvement as well as transformation with a specific focus on corporate information protection and risk management.
Herbolzheimer, an Austrian national who is a fluent speaker of German, English and French, holds a master’s degree in business process and project management and a PhD from the Technical University of Berlin.
“We are proud to announce the promotion of Claus,” said Kai Bender, who in June this year was appointed Market Leader for Oliver Wyman in Germany and Austria.
Meanwhile, in the Netherlands, Oliver Wyman recently added former Strategy& partner Marco Kesteloo to its team in Amsterdam, while in France, the consultancy welcomed Éric Confais (joined from Roland Berger) and François Beugin (joined from PwC) to its partner ranks.
