Reto Savoia succeeds Simon Owen as CEO of Deloitte Switzerland
The Swiss arm of Deloitte has a new boss at its helm. Reto Savoia has per the start of this month succeeded Simon Owen as Deloitte Switzerland’s Chief Executive Officer.
“It is an honour to become CEO of Deloitte Switzerland,” said Savoia in a press statement. As part of his new role, he has also joined the Executive Team of Deloitte North West Europe – the decision-making organ that oversees Deloitte’s Belgian, Danish, Dutch, Finnish, Icelandic, Norwegian, Swedish, Swiss and UK member firms.
Created in 2016 to enhance collaboration between members firms and tap into scale synergies, Deloitte North West Europe has over 30,000 partners and people, generating more than €5 billion in annual revenue. Richard Houston, Chief Executive Elect of Deloitte North West Europe, remarked on Savoia’s appointment: “Reto has strong leadership attributes and a track record of success, and we are confident he is the right person to lead Deloitte Switzerland.”
Savoia leads a team of around 2,000 professionals across six locations in Switzerland, based in Basel, Berne, Geneva, Lausanne, Lugano and Zurich (headquarters). Mirroring the firm’s global portfolio, the Swiss arm offers services in areas such as Audit & Assurance, Consulting, Financial Advisory, Risk Advisory and Tax & Legal.A Swiss national, Savoia has more than 20 years of experience in the Swiss and international professional services industry. He joined Deloitte Switzerland in 2005 to lead the firm’s M&A tax team. Following a number of promotions, Savoia joined the firm’s Executive team in 2011, and five years later, he was appointed Deputy CEO.
His predecessor Simon Owen led the firm from March 2016 onwards, when he succeeded Howard Lovell, who retired after a career of more than 30 years in professional services. Owen led Deloitte Switzerland to two record-breaking years. In fiscal year 2017 the firm booked 13% year-on-year growth, and in fiscal year 2018 the Big Four accounting and consulting firm saw its revenue grow by 8% to CHF 475 million.
Savoia has been tasked with continuing Deloitte's exceptional growth path over the past five years – in 2013 for instance, the professional services firm booked revenues of just CHF 377 million. The new CEO looks at the task with confidence. “I am very excited about the potential of our business here in Switzerland.
