FTI Consulting promotes Blanca Perea to Senior Managing Director
FTI Consulting has promoted Blanca Perea, a Managing Director at FTI Consulting in Madrid, to Senior Managing Director. Perea joined the global consulting firm in October last year and leads the firm’s Energy practice for Iberia.
Blanca Perea has more than 18 years of experience in the energy landscape, with deep expertise in electricity and gas, specialising in regulation, economic analysis and energy efficiency. Her project experience includes advising on economic and financial analysis, corporate strategy formulation, business model transformation, strategic market entry and exit, balance sheet restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, due diligence reviews and energy policy and regulation. In proceedings involving commercial, regulatory and competence issues within the energy sector, Perea serves as an expert witness both in national tribunals and international arbitration courts.
The newly promoted Senior Managing Director joined FTI Consulting last year from Spanish boutique financial services consultancy Bluecap Management Consulting, where she was a partner. Prior to that, Perea served accounting and consulting firm PwC, industrial specialist Cogen as Managing Director of its Spanish arm, and Geneva-based CERN, the world's largest particle-physics laboratory, which she served for over seven years.
Perea, who is based in Madrid, is a member of FTI’s Energy, Power & Products practice within the Corporate Finance & Restructuring segment. She holds an MBA from Barcelona’s ESADE Business School and Georgetown University and a PhD in Nuclear Engineering and Physics from Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, carried out at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (“CERN”).
Besides her consulting work, Perea is a regular speaker at energy conferences, including Unidad Editorial, Energía y Sociedad and the International Association for the Economy of Energy. She also has published papers for key institutions, such as Club Español de la Energía. The results of her work have been published in more than 40 papers, media articles and books, and she has been invited to speak at Stanford University, Brookhaven National Laboratory, Universiti Purta Malaysia and Deusto University, among others.
FTI’s Spanish organisation provides the full range of the firm’s service, including Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic & Litigation Consulting, Economic Consulting, Technology and Strategic Communications. The latter practice was launched in the summer of last year, and is headed by Juan Rivera.
Meanwhile, in France, FTI Consulting recently poached five senior consultants from rival Kroll – all joined the firm’s Paris-based forensics practice.
