HK&P International, a boutique consultancy to the investment and fund management industry, has appointed the Dutchman Stefan de Kort to the management teams of its divisions in the Netherlands and Luxembourg.

“Stefan not only brings an enormous amount of industry knowledge and experience to our company, he also has a vast network in both the Netherlands and Luxembourg,” said Remco Koteris, chief executive of HK&P International.

Founded in 2011 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands, HK&P International works for investment management players in the financial services landscape, including banks, pension funds, insurance companies and wealth managers, as well as players down the industry chain including asset service providers and (out)sourcing partners.

After operating domestically for a few years, initially under the HK&P banner (Haverman Koteris & Partners – named after co-founders David Haverman and Remco Koteris), international expansion ambitions triggered the specialist consultancy to rebrand as HK&P International. Late last year the consulting firm extended its footprint to Ireland and Luxembourg, and today the firm operates with around 25 consultants across the trio of European markets.Stefan de Kort en Remco Koteris - HK&P International

The addition of Stefan de Kort, a veteran in the investment industry, bolsters HK&P’s leadership in the Benelux. Previously, he held management roles at among others Dutch bank ABN AMRO, ABN AMRO Mellon Securities Services, RBC Dexia Investor Services (both in the Netherlands and in Luxembourg), Northern Trust Global Services, and State Street. De Kort specialises in custody services, with a focus on depositary services, investment accounting and performance measurement, and risk and compliance services.

“This step is a unique opportunity for me,” said De Kort, adding that he relishes the prospect of working for an “established consultancy with a clear focus on the investment management industry.” De Kort: “I look forward to put my asset servicing knowledge and experience to use advising clients and supporting implementations of change projects.”

The appointment of the 48-year-old comes on the back of a two-decade long working relationship with co-founder Remco Koteris. The pair had met during their overlapping spells at ABN AMRO, and since then they have remained in close contact. “When Stefan decided to change directions earlier this year [he was serving State Street then], the step towards HK&P felt as a logical step to both of us. We are very happy with his addition,” commented Koteris.

In the role of Director, De Kort will work closely with David Haverman, HK&P’s country manager for the Netherlands, and the senior team in Luxembourg. Across its footprint, HK&P International is led by Koteris, Haverman and the Englishman Stuart Horgan, who joined in the summer of 2017 to accelerate the firm's portfolio in the UK & Ireland.
