Cegeka buys Dutch data consulting firm Finavista
One month after integrating KPN ICT Consulting into its business, Cegeka has again beefed up its presence in the Netherlands with the acquisition of consulting firm Finavista.
The purchase extends Cegeka’s activities in the area of data consultancy and management. Finavista specialises in topics such as data advice, data migration, data governance, data quality and data analysis, and works mainly for players in the financial services sector such as insurers and pension providers. The firm’s clientele also includes organisations in logistics, healthcare and (semi) government.
According to Karim Henkens, Managing Director Netherlands, DACH and Nordics at Cegeka, the deal aligns with Cegeka's strategy to become an end-to-end data specialist. While Cegeka has deep knowledge of business processes and IT, Finavista adds years of experience in how organisations can organise their data, analyse it for strategic insights and maintain an efficient data governance.
“We want our customers to make optimal use of data in their company. With Finavista we can offer data-related services in-house at a level of quality that our customers are used to. This will enable us to guide them even better in their quest to make the right decisions at the right time based on data-driven insights,” he said.
The move comes at a time when data is playing an increasing role of importance in any organisation. Using data, organisations can improve how they serve their customers, personalising and tailoring sales & marketing, and enhance every part of their internal operations. Demonstrated by in-depth research, the winners of the future are leaders in data analysis, and this is ramping up demand for data expertise.
Marcel Schenk, who founded Finavista in 2003 and is Managing Partner of the Dutch consulting firm, says that the decision to join the much larger counterpart was driven by the desire to invest in its services.
“This strategic move enables us to further develop our services.” Leveraging Cegeka's financial muscle and IT capabilities, the firm can now advance its current services and solutions while innovating new ones.
He adds that the joining of forces will also allow Finavista to broaden is market focus. The data topics the firm works on are relevant for any sector, and using Cegeka’s large network across industries, “we can now extend our portfolio into new sectors.”
As part of the integration, all 35 team members of Finavista will join Cegeka, which lifts its headcount in the Netherlands to around 1,000 employees. Across Europe the Belgian-origin company has approximately 6,000 employees.
In related data-focused deals in the consulting industry, in February this year Capgemini acquired Swedish data science consultancy Advectas, while fellow French-origin giant Atos bought American data science consultancy Miner & Kasch. Not long before, Spanish data science consultancy Kernel Analytics joined the ranks of Boston Consulting Group.
