Accenture Italia closes second deal this month with PLM Systems

Accenture has acquired technology integrator PLM Systems, its second deal in Italy this month.

Turin-based PLM Systems is a systems integrator that specialises in designing and building information systems for product lifecycle management. Such systems help companies manage all relevant information about a product from its inception to its disposal, and are mainly used by the engineering and innovation functions to facilitate their innovation and new product development process.

Earlier this month, Accenture Italy bought Nike Group, a Milan-based company that provides regulatory consultancy and solutions to the financial services industry. The deal added around 70 professionals to the headcount of its financial services practice.

Accenture has been a prolific acquirer over the past years, using a buy-and-build strategy to accelerate its growth in high growth capability areas such as digital, cybersecurity, data analytics, regulation, design thinking and digital marketing. In 2020 in Europe alone, the global giant bolted-on technology-focused companies in France, Germany and UK, and Dutch product design and tech agency VanBerlo

Accenture Italia closes second deal this month with PLM Systems

Founded in 1996, PLM Systems bolsters Accenture’s digital consulting offering to the manufacturing industry. The Italian player, which has a headcount of around 30 consultants, works for automotive, industrial equipment, fashion and aerospace and defense companies. 

“PLM Systems will be a cornerstone of progressing Accenture’s leadership in engineering digitization services,” said Mauro Marchiaro, a managing director at Accenture in Italy. “By combining our methodologies and solutions, we are better positioned to help our clients make the industrial product development process more efficient and sustainable.” 

According to Nigel Stacey, a managing director and global lead of Accenture Industry X.0. [the firm’s arm focused on digitisation in industrial sectors], PLM Systems’ expertise will benefit Accenture’s engineering and innovation work at a global level. The deal builds on previous additions in the space, including Callisto Integration in Canada, Silveo in France, Enterprise System Partners in Ireland, and ESR Labs in Germany.

PLM Systems’ expertise and experience in product lifecycle management will allow us to help clients make the best use of their product data,” said Stacey.
