Jeroen Crijns appointed partner at Strategy& in Amsterdam
In the Netherlands, Jeroen Crijns has been appointed a partner at Strategy&, the strategy consulting division of PwC.
The new partner joined Strategy& in 2008, at the time Booz & Company, after graduating from the TU Eindhoven specialised in Industrial Engineering & Management Science. Over the past twelve years, he has ascended the firm’s ranks, in between completing an MBA at INSEAD, and he now sees his track record and commitment rewarded with admission into the partnership.
Crijns leads Strategy&’s Financial Services practice in the Netherlands. He advises banks and insurance companies in the country and across Europe with among others corporate strategy, operating model transformation, risk and capital management and the development of new value propositions.
Alongside helping clients, Crijns also leads Strategy&’s thought leadership in the sector. Earlier this year a report he co-authored made the headlines in the Netherlands, covered among others by het FD, the Dutch counterpart of the Financial Times. In the report, Crijns and the co-authors put forward that the banking sector would benefit from the central storage of transactions data from business customers.
The four largest banks in the Netherlands facilitate over 25 million transactions per day, and the workload for people and systems to monitor all these transactions for compliance is huge. According to Strategy&’s analysis, a central organisation engaged in collecting, storing and maintaining these transactions would operate tens of millions cheaper than the current way of working.
In a press statement accompanying the report, Crijns said: “Much work is now being duplicated by banks and companies. The Dutch business community and banks can jointly save up to €80 million if they work together in this area.” Since then, banks have shown interest in the concept, and are currently investigating its feasibility together with the Dutch Banking Association (NVB).
Crijns becomes the seventh partner of Strategy& in Amsterdam, where the consulting firm has a team of around 100 consultants and staff. The others partners are Sander Visser (Managing Partner), Lucas Prat Bertrams and Marc Hoogenberg (both became a partner in 2017), Mahadeva Matt Mani, Paul Nillesen and Steven Pattheeuws.
