Arthur D. Little's boss Ignacio García Alves named a top CEO
Ignacio García Alves, the Global chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Arthur D. Little, has been named one of the world’s top executives in the world of management consulting.
In the 2020 edition of its annual ‘Top CEOs in Management Consulting’ list, CEO Today, a business magazine that creates an annual list of the most influential leaders in the world of consulting, named Ignacio García Alves one of the industry’s top performers, based in Europe. Ignacio García Alves has been at the helm of Arthur D. Little since 2011 and is based in the firm’s Brussels and Paris offices.
Ignacio García Alves shares the top award together with an illustrious line up of leaders in the consulting industry, including Elie Girard, the CEO of Atos; Ari Bousbib, the CEO of IQVIA; Scott McIntyre, the CEO of Guidehouse; Victor Font, the CEO of Delta Partners, now part of FTI Consulting; and Sri Manchala, the CEO of Trianz.
Ignacio García Alves joined Arthur D. Little in 1992 as business analyst and climbed all the steps until becoming a Partner in 1998. He has been heading the TIME practice in France and globally, became the managing director of Arthur D. Little in France between 2002 and 2007 before leading the firm’s offices in the Benelux from 2008 to 2012.
In the year Arthur D. Little celebrated its 125th anniversary – making it the oldest management consulting business in the world – Ignacio García Alves led the effort to bring the company back to a private partnership. Under his leadership, a management buy-out from parent Altran (now part of Capgemini) enabled the consultancy to return to independence.
Ignacio García Alves is the architect of the strong growth and successful transformation of the company and he has been (re-)elected Global Chairman and Chief Executive Officer three times since then.
His professional consulting focus is on linking strategy, innovation and transformation for technology-intensive and converging industries. With over 25 years of experience in management consulting projects, he led many high-profile projects for high-tech industries (mainly in the telecom and digital space), but also in the transport and energy industries. He is a key member of the TIME (Telecom, Internet, Media & Electronics) global practice, as well as of the functional Strategy & Organisation practice.
Ignacio García Alves has both an engineering degree (Master’s of Science Magna Cum Laude in Electrical Engineering from Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands) and a business degree (European Master’s in Management Magna Cum Laude from ESCP Europe in Oxford, Madrid and Paris).
He further boats a true international and multi-cultural profile; he was born in Spain, lived in the Netherlands for 23 years, lived in the UK and in Spain, then 17 years in France, and has been in Belgium since 2008. He speaks five languages (Spanish, Dutch, French, English, and German) fluently, and is a member of several prestigious international business forums and boards.
