Nova Consulting, a specialised French management consultancy, has appointed consulting veteran Joël Benzimra as its managing director. He leads a team of around 80 partners, consultants and staff.

The new boss brings more than 30 years of experience in strategy and management consulting to the firm. Prior to joining, he was the global leader of KPMG Advisory’s Consumer & Retail practice, focused on helping the firm’s clients with growth strategies, business transformation, marketing & sales and performance improvement.

Before that, Benzimra spent eleven years at Kearney (at the time A.T. Kearney). He was part of the team that led the management buy-out of A.T. Kearney from EDS in 2005, and grew the ranks to latterly become the leader of its Consumer & Retail practice for the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.

Earlier in his career he served Boston Consulting Group (BCG) for fifteen years in Paris and London, primarily working in the consumer good, luxury, retail, food & beverage and automotive sectors. Among his credentials, Benzimra led BCG’s Digital as well as Corporate Finance practices in France.

Now at Nova Consulting, Benzimra leads a team of management consultants that focus exclusively on four sectors: (luxury) retail, culture, tourism and sport. Founded in 2006, the consulting firm positions itself as a boutique strategic consultancy, focused on helping clients with business insights, crafting strategies, and bringing these to life. The firm also supports its clients with strategy execution.

Commenting on the appointment, Nicolas Harlé, a director at Nova Consulting (and also a former BCG partner) said: “I am delighted and proud to welcome Joël. He will help us accelerate our growth and bring very valuable experience.” Julien Bernard, another director at the firm, added “Joël with leads us into the next step of our development.”

Benzimra is based in Nova Consulting’s Paris office. The consultancy also has hubs in New York (launched in 2014) and Shanghai.
