Netherlands-based consulting firm Dimensys has set its sight on international expansion. To fuel its ambitions, the 20-year-old consultancy has roped in funding from Holland Capital.

“In Holland Capital we have found a strong and strategic sparring partner who can help us with scaling the business and with a buy and build strategy. This will enable us to grow further in the coming years, both nationally and internationally,” said Alexander Haas, the CEO of Dimensys.

With a team of about 150 consultants and staff operating from offices in Den Bosch and Antwerp, Dimensys is a medium-sized player in the Dutch consultancy landscape. However, in the niche it operates in – SAP implementation services and operational excellence in asset intensive industries – Dimensys is one of the leading consultancies.

The company helps clients including majors such as ASML, ProRail, Infrabel and Heijmans with optimising the use of their assets. Specialised in smart monitoring, process optimisation and digitisation, Dimensys supports its clients with transforming their asset operations, ramping up the efficiency of machines, or with extending the lifespan of infrastructure assets such as cables, buildings or public assets.

This segment of consulting work is expected to grow rapidly in the coming years. The so-called ‘Industry 4.0’ revolution [the convergence of numerous emerging technologies such as cloud, IoT and robotisation] in capital-intensive sectors is providing companies with unprecedented potential to improve their operations and asset management.

This is where consulting firms such as Dimensys come in, and on the back of the market opportunities the management of Dimensys has set the goal to expand its already leading position in the Benelux and enter new markets. First on the table are the German-speaking countries of Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

Ewout Prins, Managing Partner at Holland Capital, explains why the private equity company believes in these ambitions: “Dimensys has a differentiated offering in the field of SAP Asset and Product Lifecycle Management, and helps clients with the complex challenges related to the management and operation of capital assets. We see plenty of opportunities for Dimensys to grow further both organically and via buy & build.”

For Holland Capital, one of the oldest independent private equity firms in the Netherlands, Dimensys is its third investment in the professional services industry in the space of weeks. Earlier this week, the investor took a stake in Microsoft partner Intercept, and late November the firm also invested in digital transformation specialist Magnus. Other related portfolio companies include IT players Valorie and Wortell.
