McKinsey promotes Paris-based Arun Arora to senior partner

McKinsey has promoted one of its more experienced partners in its Paris office – Arun Arora – to senior partner.

Arun Arora has been with the global strategy and management consulting firm since 2016, when he joined the consultancy as a partner in its Chicago office. Following two years in the US, he spent another two years in Madrid, before landing in McKinsey’s Paris office.

Now a senior partner, Arora advises clients on business transformations that involve a technology-first orientation, digital operations, marketing and omnichannel, and customer experience. He specialises in helping clients transform their business by harnessing the power of technology.

Prior to joining McKinsey & Company, Arora was President of Sears’ Home Services and Appliances division in the US. He joined Sears from Staples, where he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of global e-commerce, and was responsible for running the day-to-day business of Staples.com and Staples’ mobile properties – the second largest behind Amazon.

In the role, Arora leveraged data science to help create actionable insights for the business and led a number of strategic initiatives for the e-commerce business, such as online- and mobile-product roadmaps and the rollout of dynamic pricing. Earlier in his career, he worked for Groupon, 3M, Sun Microsystems, Apple and Goldman Sachs. 

In France, McKinsey has offices in Paris and Lyon. The strategy consulting giant has been active in the country since 1964, and is currently the lead consultant to the government’s national Covid-19 vaccination programme. 

The French arm is led by Homayoun Hatami, who was one of eight finalist contenders to become McKinsey’s next Global Managing Partner. The top role ultimately went to the American Bob Sternfels.
