Accenture buys sales and pricing consultancy Homburg & Partners
Accenture has announced the acquisition of Homburg & Partner – a 70-strong sales and marketing consultancy based in Manheim, Germany.
Homburg & Partner was set up in 1997 by Christian Homburg, an acclaimed marketing professor at the University of Manheim. The firm has since supported over 600 medium-sized companies across ten industries in Germany and worldwide – delivering end-to-end services in growth strategy support, sales, pricing and deep insights on market trends.
Accenture has now bolted on this award winning team of 73 specialists to its European practice – enticed by its specialised marketing expertise, at a time when customer experience has become a core driving force in business.
“The pandemic accelerated the shift for organisations to adopt new digital standards for customer experience and engagement,” noted Accenture’s global head of customer, sales and service Edwin van der Ouderaa.
“The addition of Homburg & Partner expands our ability to shape growth and efficiency strategies across the enterprise and will increase our clients’ focus on growing their sales and profits, as they pivot to their next generation customer engagement.”
The acquisition brings strong reputational value. Founder Christian Homburg ranks as the second most productive marketing researcher worldwide between 2007 and 2017 per the American Marketing Association – among other accolades – while his firm has been named a leading commercial strategy and sales consultancy by WirtschaftsWoche (‘Best of Consulting 2020’) and BrandEins (‘Beste Berater 2021’), among others.
“Homburg & Partner stands for excellent and practicable consulting services at the highest level which always keep the market in sight,” noted Homburg, adding that “Accenture’s scale and market share will enable us to extend our value proposition to customers across industries and geographies.”
Accenture market unit lead for Germany, Austria, Switzerland and Russia, Frank Riemensperger also highlighted the move’s value. “When we combine our implementation skills, global reach, and digital expertise with Homburg & Partner’s strengths, we’ll be able to create value for clients in new ways.”
This is Accenture’s fourth European acquisition – and second in Germany – since March 2021. German human capital specialist fable+ joined the firm’s operations in early March, followed by the bolt-on of Swedish software development house Cygni later the same month, and the mammoth April acquisition of Linkbynet – a 900-strong cloud consulting and implementation partner based in Paris.
