Following the Nordics, Anderson MacGyver enters Germany
After previously expanding into the Nordics, Netherlands-based management consultancy Anderson MacGyver has now landed in Germany.
The move is according to Rik Bijmholt, one of the firm’s co-founders and directors, part of its ambition to become a “leading European advisory firm for strategic advice on data and technology.” Since founding in 2013, Anderson MacGyver specialises in digital transformation, helping its clients with a strategy through to execution offering.
“The decision to open an office in Germany was a logical step in our business strategy,” said Bijmholt. “Many of our clients have operations in Europe’s largest economy, and moreover, Germany is a great steppingstone for further expansion into the German-speaking region.”
Germany is Europe’s second largest consulting market, with the DACH region as a whole generating over €12 billion in fees according to a conservative estimate by Source Global Research. A more expansive market sizing estimate by Germany’s national association for consulting firms BDU pegs the German consultancy industry at €35 billion.
While Germany is at the same time one of the most competitive regions for consultancies, Bijmholt sees several opportunities for Anderson MacGyver to successfully nestle itself in the local market. “We work for international clients across industries, and Germany is home to dozens of market leading companies – that is right up our alley.”
Clients the consulting company works with include French-based industrial engineering company SPIE, Rituals Cosmetics, energy supplier and producer Eneco Group and Vanderlande, one of the world’s largest handling systems suppliers.
“The North Rine-Westphalia area, which will be our main area of focus in the initial stages, is a digital hotspot. This is where our specialisation comes in – we are experts in helping companies develop their digital agenda and shape the subsequent roadmap, and with guiding them along their journey towards a digital future.”
Leading the charge in Germany is Sönke Thoms, who brings extensive experience in IT strategy and implementation to the firm. He is a former Director of Consulting Services at international consultancy CGI, and before that gained years of experience in the financial services sector and held various leadership positions at technology company CKC.
“I am very proud and excited to be part of the Anderson MacGyver family. Together, we aim to build something new and impactful,” he said.
The German team – based in Düsseldorf – will be able to leverage the expertise and proximity of Dutch colleagues. In its home market, Anderson MacGyver was recently named one of the leading digital consulting firms by Consultancy.nl, an industry platform.
