Blue Ridge promotes Axel Steuernagel and Martin Wirsing
US consultancy Blue Ridge Partners has promoted two of its seniors in Germany to managing director level.
Axel Steuernagel has been with Blue Ridge Partners since early 2019, having previously held leadership roles at two fashion ecommerce companies in Eastern Europe (one of which he founded and grew to 200+ employees before exiting in 2015). Earlier in his career Steuernagel worked for Bertelsmann and B2B marketplace pioneer Mondus at the turn of the century.
In between he served global strategy consulting firm McKinsey & Company, focusing on marketing and sales engagements at clients in the consumer goods producers and logistics sectors.
At Blue Ridge Partners, a 100-strong consultancy specialised in top-line growth with two offices in Europe (London and Frankfurt), Steuernagel advises clients on the development of growth, marketing and sales strategies as well as digital transformation.
Martin Wirsing joined Blue Ridge Partners in 2018, having previously spent over a decade in industry. Previously he held several management positions at Deutsche Telekom, developed the sports equipment manufacturer Hiss-Tec / CORE Kiteboarding into one of the leading players in the segment as managing director.
Wirsing also has considerable previous consulting experience under his belt. He spent three years at marketing and strategy consultancy Simon-Kucher & Partners in Bonn, Boston and Paris, and more recently was a managing director at Lanzada, a boutique that advises clients on growth strategy and execution.
At Blue Ridge Partners, Wirsing serves clients across Europe in the areas of growth strategy, commercial transformation, sales and marketing effectiveness, pricing and commercial due diligence.
“We are delighted to welcome Axel and Martin to our European leadership team,” said company founder and managing partner Jim Corey.
Other Europe-based managing directors include Uwe Doerken (previously CEO and Chairman of DHL and a consultant at McKinsey & Company), Vincent Schuller (former Head of the MENA Due Diligence Practice at Deloitte), Moti Shahani (ex-McKinsey and previously Vice President Strategic Planning at American Express) and Anthony Lucas (a former Accenture and PwC partner).
