In its second acquisition in the Netherlands this year, Deloitte has purchased Odysseus, a firm specialised in designing and implementing ServiceNow solutions.

Odysseus will be integrated into the Consulting practice of Deloitte, specifically within the Technology unit. Ronald Krabben, who heads Deloitte Consulting’s Technology business, said: “We are proud to become one of the Dutch market leaders in ServiceNow services, one of the fastest growing platforms.”

A $5 billion company headquartered in the US, ServiceNow is a provider of platforms and solutions that help companies digitise their workflows for enterprise operations. Deloitte is a global consulting partner of ServiceNow, and is tapped by clients to help them enhance their information technology, employee, risk, customer and other workflows.

“Deloitte Consulting help organisations transform towards a digital enterprise. ServiceNow as one of our strategic alliances plays a key role in this journey with their leading digital workflow platform,” explained Krabben.

According to Krabben, the Odysseus team will add “complementary skills” to its existing ServiceNow group, meaning that Deloitte will “better than ever be positioned to deliver the full breadth of ServiceNow services to our clients.” Following closing, Deloitte’s ServiceNow service line will house around 50 consultants.

Alongside ServiceNow knowhow and certifications, Odysseus also deepens Deloitte’s capabilities “with their extensive experience in IT business management, agile, DevOps and project portfolio management.”

Erik Nanninga, the boss of Deloitte Consulting in the Netherlands, commented: “Leading digital companies are harnessing digital to delight customers, spark new business models and reinvent their operations. Together with Odysseus we are enhancing our commitment to help our clients achieve these outcomes.”

Meanwhile, for Odysseus, the move puts an end to its 22-years of independence. In return, however, the firm and its employees will be able to benefit from “Deloitte’s market leading capabilities,” said Sander Treur, the former owner of Odysseus and now a partner at Deloitte Consulting. “We can now make more impact on the transformation agenda of our customers.”

Earlier this year, Deloitte’s Dutch wing acquired the life sciences consulting practice of Iperion, adding around 40 consultants to its headcount. Previous recent deals in the Netherlands include that of Pervorm (2019), Boer & Croon Corporate Finance (2018) and AEPEX Business Consultants (2018).

Deloitte is the largest of the Big Four in the Netherlands, with a revenue of just over €1 billion.
