Marcel van Wersch appointed COO of Amsterdam Data Collective
Amsterdam Data Collective has appointed Marcel van Wersch as its new Chief Operations Officer.
Marcel van Wersch joins the firm from Solid Professionals, an Utrecht-based finance & risk consulting firm, where he was a partner and Chief Operations Officer, and played a large role in the firm’s growth over the years. Now at Amsterdam Data Collective, Van Wersch has been handed a similar remit.
“Obviously, I have followed Amsterdam Data Collective closely in the past years,” he said, referring to the fact that Solid Professionals and Amsterdam Data Collective joined forces late 2019 in a minority deal swap.
“From a distance I was always enthusiastic about the motivation and drive of the people, the impact Amsterdam Data Collective makes at its clients and the unique culture that has been built in such a short period of time [Amsterdam Data Collective was founded in 2017]. I am looking forward to helping the company embark on its next phase of growth.”
That next phases consist of two pillars. Today, Amsterdam Data Collective is a 50-strong firm of data scientists and technologists that help companies with data science and advanced analytics. In the Netherlands, the firm wants to expand its position in the market, and meanwhile, the firm has set its sights on international expansion.
Last week, Amsterdam Data Collective’s Managing Director Rik van der Woerdt announced that the consultancy has launched in Denmark, with Van Wersch’s predecessor Govert van Koningsveld now the lead for the company’s international ambitions.
“After focussing on the operations of Amsterdam Data Collective for almost two years, I now look forward to focusing on our international expansion,” said Van Koningsveld.
Van der Woerdt concluded: “As data science will eventually touch every part of our lives, there are plentiful opportunities for expansion. We choose those areas where data science and our teams can have the greatest impact.”
