Ecochain names Sourcing Champions an implementation partner
Procurement consultancy Sourcing Champions has become a partner of Ecochain, a provider of software solutions that help companies with measuring and lowering their CO2 footprint.
Founded in 2012, Ecochain’s suite of solutions helps companies measure their full environmental footprint across both direct (scope 1) and indirect (scope 2 & 3) emissions. By linking material and process specific footprints back to each individual product, Ecochain’s so-called ‘Environmental Intelligence Platform’ enables companies to create in-depth life cycle assessments of their whole product portfolio.
“Creating life cycle assessments used to be tedious exercise and take a lot of time and money. Our solutions help companies around the world to gain insights into their environmental footprint fast and without headaches,” explained Frans-Willem de Kloet, the chief executive of the Amsterdam-based tech company.
Appointed an implementation partner, Sourcing Champions will help the growing number of companies that are turning to Ecochain with designing and implementing their solutions. The consulting firm will provide end-to-end support, from advisory and process mapping through to change management.
Specialised in procurement, Sourcing Champions will focus on scope 2 emissions (emissions resulting from goods/services purchased externally to support the primary process) and scope 3 emissions (indirect emissions that occur in a company’s value chain).
“With suppliers (scope 2 & 3) often accounting for over 50% of companies’ environmental footprint, most environmental impact remains unchanged even when companies reduce their direct (scope 1) emissions. As part of the alliance, we will provide procurement consultancy to create transparency in the environmental footprint of the supply base,” said Robert Waalder, the founder and chief executive of Sourcing Champions.
“Combining the strengths of Ecochain and Sourcing Champions, we will be able to help our clients excel in collecting, measuring, and understanding their environmental data, bringing full visibility to operations and helping them to drive their net zero roadmap.”
Other implementation partners of Ecochain include consultancies Blue Engineering, EcoReview and Sustainalize.
According to recent research by Proxima, sustainability is increasingly becoming an asset (or risk) for supply chains.
