François Faelli becomes Bain's inaugural global leader for ESG
Bain & Company has continued its growing commitment to environment, social and governance (ESG) with the appointment of François Faelli as its first-ever global managing partner of ESG.
In his new role, Faelli (who is based in Bain’s Brussels office) will lead a team of more than 2,500 consultants that advise and support clients along their ESG transformations.
“François will work closely with our teams to help Bain’s clients as they face increasing and often existential demands around sustainability, social impact, and diversity, equity and inclusion,” said Manny Maceda, worldwide managing partner of Bain & Company.
Faelli has been with the global strategy consulting firm for twenty-three years, fourteen of which as a partner. He most recently served as head of the firm's global Consumer Products practice.
His recent sector work has spanned food and beverages, pet food and luxury products, as well as home and personal care items. Faelli has led multiple large, global transformation programs, especially across merger integration, organisation, and growth acceleration.
“Over the past two decades, François has guided many of the leading consumer product companies on the planet through the tectonic shifts happening in their industries, including the growing urgency for corporations to address climate change and social inequities,” said Maceda.
“He will now put his strategic expertise to work, helping our clients navigate the remarkable challenges and opportunities in the ESG landscape.”
Bain’s suite of ESG services build on several different offerings. Its Sustainability & Corporate Responsibility practice focuses on the E of ESG. “In the past two years alone, this practice has served more than 500 client projects that tackled sustainability and corporate responsibility, carbon emissions and the energy transition,” explained Faelli.
The Diversity, Equity and Inclusion practice directly support its clients’ goals of increasing diverse representation, achieving more equitable outcomes and creating a more inclusive environment. Meanwhile, Bain also has specific offerings for social impact, sustainable investing, community building, corporate governance, and more.
Meanwhile, Faelli will also lead Bain’s internal ESG agenda. This includes an ambitious roadmap to achieve net zero climate impact by 2030, and a massive $1.1 billion commitment to pro bono consulting over a ten year period.
Alongside his role at Bain & Company, Faelli is a professor of strategy at Solvay Business School in Brussels.
