Two weeks after buying Avieco, Accenture has acquired another sustainability-focused consultancy in Europe. The bolt-on of Greenfish adds 270 professionals to its Sustainability Services practice in Belgium, France and the Netherlands.

Brussels-headquartered Greenfish is a consulting and engineering firm that helps clients with decarbonisation and sustainability services. Since its founding in 2010, Greenfish has also launched offices in Antwerp, Ghent, Amsterdam, Paris, and Lyon.

Greenfish advises its clients through every stage of their project life cycle, from strategy to implementation, and works mainly in the energy, pharma & life sciences, water, construction, infrastructure, transport, manufacturing, consumer products, and retail sectors.

For Accenture, the acquisition deepens and expands its sustainability skills and capabilities, which will allow the firm to scale its services faster to address the growing needs of clients, said Peter Lacy, Accenture’s global Sustainability Services lead and chief responsibility officer.

“Post COP26 in particular, companies in Europe are accelerating their sustainability transformations, with evolving energy and supply-chains pressures only furthering this trend,” said Lacy. “Adding more than 270 skilled professionals in the areas of low-carbon energy transitions, the circular economy and ESG measurement rapidly accelerates our capabilities across Europe, and within the critical markets of France, Belgium and the Netherlands.”

Olivier Girard, market unit lead for Accenture in France & Benelux, added: “Acquiring Greenfish further enhances our deep experience in helping European clients improve their ESG performance and embed sustainability by design in their operations.”

The deal builds on Accenture’s purchase of Avieco earlier this month, and the 2021 acquisition of Arabesque S-Ray, a UK platform which provides sustainability data and insights services to companies globally.

Meanwhile, for Greenfish, the joining of forces will allow the firm to reach a larger group of clients and offer a whole new level of strategic counsel and technology services, “which will help increase the impact we make at clients” said co-founder Yann Louise.

In other recent European deals by Accenture, in the Netherlands the firm picked up Zestgroup late 2021, while in France the firm last year closed four acquisitions, including Exton Consulting, a management consultancy dedicated to the financial services industry.
