FTI Consulting names BCG veteran Lars Faeste as EMEA chairman
FTI Consulting has named Lars Faeste – currently a senior partner at Boston Consulting Group – as its new Chairman for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region.
The Dane, who brings 25 years of experience in strategy and management consulting to the firm, succeeds Kevin Hewitt, who has served as Chairman for EMEA since 2017, and transitions to the role of EMEA Chair of Client Services.
In his new role, Faeste will lead FTI Consulting’s full suite of offerings across its five main divisions – Corporate Finance & Restructuring, Forensic and Litigation Consulting, Economic Consulting, Technology, and Strategic Communications – and teams in more than 20 offices in 14 countries across EMEA.
In EMEA, FTI Consulting has more than 2,000 employees, who combined account for around 28% of the group’s $2.8 billion revenue base (North America generates nearly two thirds of all turnover).
“I am excited to partner with the EMEA leadership team and the Executive Committee to help our clients as they face their most significant challenges and opportunities, as well as create growth opportunities for current and new talent,” said Faeste on the role which he takes on per 1 August 2022.
Faeste joins from Boston Consulting Group, where he has been since 1998. He specialises in large-scale transformation and strategy work, often in connection with mergers and acquisitions. From his base in Copenhagen, Faeste is the Global Lead for Value Acceleration and the EMEA Lead of the Principal Investors & Private Equity practice.
Earlier, Faeste headed BCGs Greater China region from 2018-2021 where he also led the Transformation and TURN business in Asia. He founded BCG TURN – BCG’s restructuring business – and was global practice leader of the Transformation and TURN practice from 2014 to 2019.
During his 25 career at BCG, Faeste has worked in several of the firm’s offices, including Chicago, Helsinki, Moscow, Stockholm and Copenhagen.
“Lars brings extensive experience with large-scale transformation and growth strategies for companies spanning numerous countries and industries. I am excited about his commitment to help build on the progress we have made and realise the potential of our people and positions across the EMEA region,” said Steven Gunby, President and Chief Executive Officer of FTI Consulting.
According to Gunby, Faeste’s remit will focus on continuing the firm’s growth in EMEA through “new market entry” and “extending service offerings”. Deals are also likely to be on the table – 2 of the past 3 acquisitions by FTI Consulting were in EMEA: the bolt-on of BOLD late 2021 (Netherlands) and the purchase of TMT consultancy Delta Partners (Middle East).
