BrazilOliver Wyman cements presence in Austria with new Vienna office
Global strategy and management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has cemented its position in the Austrian market with the launch of a new office in Vienna.
The market entry into Austria comes on the back of a record year for Oliver Wyman, and is in line with the firm’s ambition to have an on the ground presence in major economic hubs globally. Oliver Wyman now has just over 70 offices worldwide.
From the new base in Austria’s capital city Vienna, Oliver Wyman will serve clients in the private and public sector.
Oliver Wyman has been active in the Austrian consulting market for over a decade with fly-in and remote teams from its offices in Germany and Switzerland, and has during this time built a client base in mainly the retail and financial services sectors.
Led by a founding team (headed by partner Matthias Witzemann), the Vienna office aims to expand its footprint into other sectors – including energy, industry and automotive – and grow its team to 40 consultants.

Office leader Matthias Witzemann is a partner in Oliver Wyman's global Energy & Natural Resources practice. He joined the firm last year from Strategy& – where he was a partner in Vienna – to setup the office. Earlier, he spent close to two decades at Kearney in its Austrian operation. His focus ranges from strategy development and performance improvement to supply chain, operations and sustainability.
Earlier this year, Oliver Wyman similarly cemented its presence in Belgium with the opening of a permanent foothold in Brussels. The global consultancy also closed two acquisitions, in the Middle East and in Australia.
