Barend van Bergen joins EY-Parthenon as a partner
Barend van Bergen has relocated back to the Netherlands to join strategy consultancy EY-Parthenon as a partner.
“After spending five years at EY in the UK, I am looking forward to further integrate ESG within the Strategy & Transactions portfolio of our Dutch practice,” said Van Bergen.
Based in Amsterdam, Van Bergen is a partner in the Sustainability practice within Strategy & Transactions, focused on sustainability and ESG topics in the context of transformation, mergers & acquisitions, operations and social impact.
In addition to serving clients in a range of sectors, Van Bergen is EY’s Global Long Term Value Methodology Leader – a proposition which helps businesses pivot their business models to embrace future-proof levers including purpose, social impact, sustainability and digital-first services.
The Dutchman brings more than 25 years of experience in the sustainability and ESG space to his new position, all of which he gained as a management consultant.
Outside his work for EY-Parthenon clients (and EY in a broader capacity), Van Bergen is a member of EY’s teams that work with the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council on the further development of ESG metric. Earlier in his career, he was a member of one of the sustainability-focused workstreams of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development.
“More than ever clients are seeking integrated services and solutions for sustainability – one of today’s most pressing challenges. With our international network, talent, expertise and extensive track record EY is in a unique position to help clients make a difference, and build a better working world,” said Van Bergen on his new challenge.
Founded in 1991, and formed following the 2014 acquisition of The Parthenon Group, EY-Parthenon is EY’s strategic consulting subsidiary. The firm has over 6,500 consultants and staff worldwide.
