Consulting firm Innopay has named Mounaim Cortet as the new country manager for its DACH operations.

Founded in 2002 in the Netherlands, Innopay is a consultancy firm dedicated to the digital transactions domain. The firm specialises in strategy, product development and implementation support in the areas of digital identity, data sharing, and payments.

Around five years ago, the Dutch consultancy first moved into the German market, with Mounaim Cortet now installed as the head of its Frankfurt office.

Mounaim has been with the consulting firm since 2012, climbing the ranks to become a director and, most recently, global lead for strategy and open finance consulting services.

He leads a team of around 20 consultants in Frankfurt (the Amsterdam office has around 40 consultants) that work for players including banks, regulators, fintechs, ecommerce groups, transport and logistics organisations, cross-industry co-operations, and other players which rely heavily on transactions to run their business.

“I am very proud to take this next step in my career and I’m looking forward to putting my industry experience and expertise in payments, digital identity, data sharing and especially open finance to good use,” commented Mounaim. “Innopay is driving the topic of open finance, and we’re looking forward to bringing our market expertise to existing and new clients in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.”

Mounaim takes the reins from Karl Illing, who has held the role for the past three years. Shikko Nijland, CEO and managing director of Innopay, said: “Karl has made a valued contribution to our operations. We are very grateful for his drive and for the commitment with which he has led the team and the business to its current success.”

An expert in open finance in the world of banking (known as ‘open banking’), Mounaim recently shared his vision on why financial institutions should be preparing for open finance, and how they can realise their ambitions in the fast emerging space.

According to research by Innopay, open finance is increasingly also making inroads in the insurance sector, although the sector still lags the banking industry.
