Avanade buys IT companies Kabel (Spain) and Asysco (Netherlands)
Global IT services company Avanade has beefed up its European footprint with two acquisitions, snapping up Kabel in Spain and Asysco in the Netherlands.
The larger of the two deals, the purchase of Kabel, sees almost 300 professionals in Madrid, Barcelona, Granda and La Coruña cross to Avanade’s Spanish outfit.
Founded in 1995, Kabel is one of Spain’s leading IT consultancies and services firms, and a key Microsoft partner in the country. “The acquisition strengthens our business across the entire spectrum of digital technologies, with a particular emphasis on data, cloud, software development and applications,” said Silvia Vidal, Iberia General Manager at Avanade.
“Kabel has garnered a solid reputation as being a bold, agile partner that can design innovative, highly complex solutions that drive business transformation. We deeply respect their close relationship with clients, employees, Microsoft and other partners,” Vidal added.
Meanwhile, based in the Dutch city of Coevorden, Asysco is a specialised IT company that helps organisations with upgrading and replacing critical legacy applications on mainframe systems.
The purchase by Avanade will see Asysco’s 60-strong team become part of the Avanade Azure Centre of Excellence devoted exclusively to legacy mainframe conversions. This team operates globally, with a focus on clients in Europe and North America.
“Asysco’s technology and expertise allows companies to move beyond the limitations and expense of legacy mainframe applications to cloud-based technologies from which they then can springboard to a full digital transformation,” said Sean Peterson, global application & infrastructure lead at Avanade. “Asysco strategically complements our existing Microsoft capabilities.”
For Avanade, the double transactions take its deal tally in Europe to five in the past three years. The company, which is majority owned by Accenture, has around 56,000 professionals in 26 countries.
