BrazilDeloitte adds duo to partner team of Sustainability practice
Deloitte has strengthened the partner team of its Sustainability practice in the Netherlands with Arjan de Draaijer and Wim Bartels, who both join from KPMG.
For Arjan de Draaijer, the move is a return to where he started his career. After three years at Deloitte, he joined KPMG where he grew to partner, managing partner of the Sustainability practice and most recently global co-leader of the ESG en Sustainability service offering and global leader of the True Value offering.
His track record includes working with senior leaders on sustainability strategy, impact measurement and valuation, reporting and climate risk, sustainability operations, and connecting environmental and social topics to value creation.
Wim Bartels spent his entire career at KPMG, working in both its audit and forensic departments. He rose the firm’s ranks to become leader of the sustainability assurance services, managing partner of the Sustainability practice and most recently also global co-leader for the Measurement Reporting and Assurance line of business.
His track record includes working with many multinationals throughout Europe on sustainability reporting, climate risk, and ESG transparency.
Bartels was a member of the Task force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) since its inception and helped progress the convergence agenda of reporting via the Corporate Reporting Dialogue, the World Economic Forum and Accountancy Europe. he currently serves as a member of the EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Board that will advise the European Commission on the standards for sustainability reporting.
At Deloitte, Bartels will mainly focus on sustainability reporting, while Draaijer’s focus is on sustainability strategy, transformation and impact measurement. Both are based in Amsterdam but will operate with a pan-European remit.

Highlighting the huge challenge that comes with Europe’s sustainability ambitions, according to a report by McKinsey & Company the target to become climate-neutral by 2050 would cost the continent roughly €28 trillion over the course of the next 30 years.
