Puma’s global tax chief Andreas Klenk joins Mazars as partner
Mazars has appointed Puma’s global tax chief Andreas Klenk as a partner in its German team.
As a partner, effective the start of December, Klenk will focus on expanding Mazars’ footprint in the sports sector. He will be based out of Nuremberg, one of the firm’s twelve offices across Germany.
“We are extremely pleased that Andreas, who is a proven expert in taxation in the sports industry, has decided to move to Mazars. He not only complements our range of tax consulting services for corporations within and outside of the sports industry, but also further strengthen our location in Nuremberg,” said Stefan Hölzemann, board member at Mazars in Germany.
Klenk worked for Puma since 2009, growing the ranks to become Global Director of Tax. His track record includes leading the development of the global tax strategy, the establishment of a tax compliance management system and representing Puma in all tax-related issues, especially in dealings with domestic and foreign tax authorities. He also acted as a tax advisor to several large advertising and sponsorship contracts signed by Puma.
Before Puma, Klenk served Big Four firm EY for seven years, where he worked in its International Tax department.
Klenk also brings an extensive professional network in sports and business to Mazars. For several years he has been a member of the executive committee of the International Fiscal Association, an organisation that deals with tax issues.
In Germany, Mazars has around 1,700 professionals, meaning the firm ranks as the eighth largest accounting-origin professional services firm in the country. Globally the firm has over 44,000 staff in 90+ countries.
