Global strategy and management consulting firm Oliver Wyman has appointed Cornelia Neumann as the new office leader of its Amsterdam team.

In her new role, Neumann leads a team of 75 consultants and support staff who are supporting clients across sectors including financial services, retail and fast moving consumer goods.

“I am truly excited to be able to shape the next stage of our growth in the Netherlands, building on what we have already achieved. Growing our team in Amsterdam has been a priority for me since 2015 and the new role feels like a natural next step.”

Neumann joined Oliver Wyman’s London office in 2011 from the Bank of England and transferred to Amsterdam in 2016. A member of the Finance & Risk practice, she spent the bulk of her 12-year tenure at Oliver Wyman working with European banks and public authorities on strategy, risk management and transformation. Neumann was elected to the partnership in 2021.

Since her first ESG project in 2017, Neumann has merged her passion for sustainability into her work and today is a member of Oliver Wyman’s Climate & Sustainability platform, consulting institutions on sustainability strategy, climate and environmental risk management, and ESG operating models.

Reflecting on her time in the sector, Neumann said, “Consulting is a profession that is both demanding and rewarding. For people who are willing to make the investment and want to learn how to hold their own when interacting with different people, cultures, and problems, Oliver Wyman is a great place.”

Neumann takes the reins from Coen de Vuijst, who held the position for the past five years and played an instrumental role in Oliver Wyman’s growth in the Netherlands. He has meanwhile transitioned to a more client-facing role in the firm’s fast-growing retail and consumer practice.

Having been active in the country since the mid-1990s through fly-in teams, Oliver Wyman first established a Dutch base in 2013. De Vuijst joined the firm in 2017 following over fifteen years at Strategy&, and under his leadership the firm has grown from a 15-strong practice to its current size of 75 team members.
