Pan-European IT service provider Cegeka has expanded into Greece with the launch of a new office in Athens.

The new hub will serve as a delivery center for the company’s European operations, and complements existing centers in Romania, Moldova and the Czech Republic.

Cegeka’s delivery centers provide a range of technology support services to the company’s teams in 10+ European countries and their clients, ranging from the development and build of IT systems and applications, to platform engineering, cyber monitoring, and the support of outsourced managed services.

“With the opening of our Greek office, we want to anticipate the future growth of Cegeka and the need for additional capacity to service our customers”, said Stijn Bijnens, CEO of Cegeka.

Following nine consecutive years of double-digit growth, Cegeka today has over 6,000 staff. The group is headquartered out of Belgium.

“We are confident that our new location in Athens will provide us with more flexibility and scalability, enabling us to better serve our clients in Europe. We invest in our people and infrastructure to ensure the highest level of service to our customers,” Bijnens added.

Asked why the IT consultancy and services group picked Athens above other locations in for instance Eastern Europe, Bijnens pointed at the combination of the availability of skilled IT professionals with cultural fit. “We are looking forward to build long-lasting relationships with Greece’s talented workforce.”

Recruitment for the fresh Athens hub is well underway, with the target to grow the Greek team to 300 employees within the next three years. Tom De Vos, Director of Cegeka’s Delivery Center network, revealed that some staff will likely also be based in other cities: “we are already considering expanding to other cities like Thessaloniki in the near future.”

Last year, Greece also welcomed one of the world’s leading strategy consultancies to its shores.
