Eight Advisory adds Boudewijn Wellink to Dutch partner team
European consultancy Eight Advisory has strengthened its Restructuring & Turnaround practice in the Netherlands with seasoned expert Boudewijn Wellink.
France-headquartered Eight Advisory provides services across the lines of business: mergers & acquisitions and financial transactions, business and economic transformation, and restructuring.
The firm’s Amsterdam office – which launched early 2021 – focuses mainly on restructuring and financial engineering services. The firm works for corporates, private equity groups, and mid-sized businesses.
Boudewijn Wellink brings more than 28 years of international experience in restructuring and corporate finance to the firm. After initially spending a decade at the banking side of the landscape (ING, Merrill Lynch, and Goldman Sachs), Wellink then transitioned to the advisory side of the table. He previously worked for Alvarez & Marsal and most recently Catapult, a restructuring boutique he co-founded in 2015.
In between, Wellink also spent close to decade in private equity, among others leading his own investment firm focussing on midmarket companies in distress of facing special situations.
Wellink is a Certified Turnaround Professional, a member of the European Association of Certified Turnaround Professionals (EACTP), a member of the Dutch Turnaround Association and a member of the Dutch Restructuring Association.
At Eight Advisory, Wellink has been appointed a partner and practice leader of the Restructuring & Turnaround practice. He succeeds Vincent van Liere, who helped setup the practice since Eight Advisory’s 2021 launch – he crossed to Alvarez & Marsal earlier this year.
“I am excited to continue providing restructuring advisory and turnaround management services for business leaders facing exceptional challenges and opportunities,” said Wellink. “I’m also excited to contribute to the already impressive growth journey Eight Advisory has demonstrated over the past decade.”
Eight Advisory has nearly 800 staff in 13 offices across Europe. The firm is backed by investor group Sienna.
Philippe Fimmers, Managing Partner of the Benelux, and Cédric Colaert, Partner and Head of the Restructuring practice, welcomed the joining of Wellink: “With a proven track record of steering businesses through challenging waters and revitalising their potential, Boudewijn embodies our commitment to providing innovative solutions that stronger businesses.”
