HKA launches Economics practice for EMEA region
Global consulting firm HKA has expanded its suite of services in the EMEA region with the launch of an Economics practice.
Operating out of London, the new practice will provide rigorous economic analysis to complement the firm’s work in the dispute resolution domain, including around commercial damages assessment, insurance claims, valuations, and intellectual property.
The practice will provide expert micro-economic advice to clients including construction groups, infrastructure and capital project owners, legal firms, insurance companies, as well as competition authorities, international arbitration courts and divisions of High Courts.
The new service line sites within HKA’s Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages practice.
“The development of an Economics practice is the next step in the firm’s exciting growth journey and further widens our service offering in the dispute resolution space,” said Amanda Clack – Partner and Regional CEO for HKA in EMEA.
Leading the new service line is Chris Williams, who has been hired as a partner. An experienced economist, he brings more than 25 years of experience in the field to the role.
In the dispute resolution space, Williams has provided evidence and testimony to a wide range of courts on numerous occasions, including International Arbitration Tribunals (investor state and commercial), as well as High Courts, Competition Courts and Judicial / Parliamentary Review proceedings across multiple jurisdictions.
Williams also has extensive commercial and advisory experience of the practical application of economics for corporate and public sector clients in many sectors of the economy; including telecoms, media, technology, financial services and the wider data landscape.
Prior to joining HKA, Williams was a partner at Grant Thornton, where he co-founded its Economic consulting practice. Before that, he held senior leadership positions within the economics practices at KMPG, Deloitte, and Alvarez & Marsal, among others.
Colin Johnson, who leads HKA’s Forensic Accounting and Commercial Damages practice in EMEA, said: “Chris brings additional capabilities to our rapidly growing partner team of financial and economic experts in EMEA. His impressive track record will undoubtedly make a significant impact for our clients.”
“It’s an absolute pleasure to be developing an economics practice alongside a group of renowned dispute experts,” Williams said. “The opportunities to work together to provide a full service to best serve our clients are close to endless.”
