PaymentGenes appoints Bas van Donselaar as co-head of consulting

International payment consultancy agency PaymentGenes has appointed Bas van Donselaar as co-Head of its Consulting practice.

In his new role, Bas van Donselaar joins PaymentGenes co-founder Ward Hagenaar at the helm of the consulting wing. He has been promoted from within, most recently serving as practice lead of the Strategy offering.

“We are pleased to appoint Bas as co-Head for our Consulting practice,” said Hagenaar. “He has since his arrival contributed strongly to our growth and team development. Adding him to our leadership team will allow us to further scale our consultancy team and increase the quality of our services.”

Van Donselaar brings over a dozen years of experience in the consulting sector to PaymentGenes, a firm dedicated to the payments realm with offices in Amsterdam, Barcelona, and Toronto. He has broad transformation experience across financial services and the public sector, specialising in topics including strategy, value proposition development, market research, and mergers and acquisitions (due diligence).

After starting his career at IG&H, Van Donselaar then gained in-depth payments expertise at Mastercard Advisors. He then spent two years at TNO, where he was responsible for corporate strategy and the launch of a new business unit. Van Donselaar joined PaymentGenes late 2022, re-entering the world of payments and fintech.

During his career, he has led projects with numerous international clients including Mercedes, Team.blue, Mastercard, INGKA, De Haan Fuel Retail, Hiiper and Buckaroo.

Beyond consulting offerings, PaymentGenes also provides training services and staffing solutions to its clients in verticals such as payments, financial services, fintech, retail, and mobility.
