BrazilFIFPRO selects Oliver Wyman for review of governance structure
FIFPRO, the representative organisation for professional footballers worldwide, has hired management consultancy Oliver Wyman to help enhance its governance structure.
With over 65,000 professional footballers falling under its supervision, FIFPRO (Fédération Internationale des Associations de Footballeurs Professionnels) is the world’s largest governing body for professional footballers.
Originally focused on Europe (FIFPRO was launched in the 1960’s), FIFPRO today works with player associations from around the world, including Africa, the Americas, the Middle East, Asia, and Oceania.
Under the guidance of Oliver Wyman, FIFPRO will carry out a structural review in order to further improve its global governance structure, as well as how it collaborates with its 66 affiliated national unions.
The structural review over the coming months will cover areas including FIFPRO’s leadership, decision-making processes, and operations.

Among the notable work that FIFPRO helped realise in 2023 include successfully pushed for the first maternity rules across professional women’s football, supported unions and players in numerous tribunal cases, helping players gain more control over their data rights, and working with the FIFA and UEFA on the continued evolution of the sport and their competitions.
FIFPRO is headquartered in the Netherlands. Oliver Wyman is headquartered in New York, with the FIFPRO engagement led by a team staffed from its British and Dutch offices.
