Pan-European management consulting firm Civitta has opened its first office in Southwestern Europe, with Porto the 31st office in its network.

From its roots in the Baltics, Civitta has since its inception in 2013 grown through organic growth and mergers and acquisitions into a group of 750 professionals in around 20 countries. The firm is today one of the few consultancies outside the Big Four that has a full presence across the Baltics, Nordics, Central and Eastern Europe, Southeast Europe, as well as Caucasus region.

With Portugal now entering its network, Civitta is making its debut in Southwestern Europe. The expansion is realised through the acquisition of local player Gestluz Consultores.

“This move is part of our next chapter of growth aimed at establishing a presence in Southwestern Europe, and our first step is Portugal. We would like to operate both in Porto and Lisbon,” said Adam Saulius Vaina, the Founder and CEO of Civitta.

“Over the past few decades, Portugal has developed a vibrant innovation ecosystem, and we are looking forward to including our Portuguese experts in work abroad within the Civitta network.”

Established in 1994, Porto-based Gestluz Consultores is a consulting firm dedicated to innovation and funding services. The firm helps its clients attract research & development and innovation funds from EU and national state aid schemes. Over the last years, Gestluz Consultores has been involved in projects with more than €1 billion of approved eligible investment.

Gestluz Consultores also helps businesses with designing and implementing projects in the areas of entrepreneurship, innovation, competitiveness, science and technology transfer.

“With Gestluz Consultores on board, we further enhance our expertise in the area of innovation and funding advisory in Europe,” said Vaina.

Commenting on the joining of forces with Civitta, Ricardo Luz, the founder of Gestluz Consultores and now partner at Civitta said: “The consolidated experience of Gestluz Consultores, combined with the vast global expertise of Civitta, will result in even more comprehensive and effective solutions, continuing to prioritize the satisfaction and success of our clients, now with expanded resources and competencies.”

Over the past two years, Portugal’s consulting market has seen a number of international consultancies enter the market, including Bain & Company (strategy consulting), Efficio (procurement specialist), and Conclusion (digital transformation).
